Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the relationship between environmental stewardship practices of teachers and ecoliteracy skills of Grade Six learners in public elementary schools in Maa District, Division of Davao City. The study used a non-experimental quantitative research design utilizing correlational method. The respondents of this study are composed of 47 grade six teachers in public elementary schools using a universal sampling. However, each respondent chose three grade six learners since they were the target of the study. The statistical tols used were Mean, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (Pearson r), and Regression Analysis. The findings revealed that the teachers achieved a high level on environmental stewardship practices. Meanwhile, grade six learners established a high level of ecoliteracy skills. There was a significant relationship between environmental stewardship practices of teachers and ecoliteracy skills of grade six learners in public elementary schools. The domains of environmental stewardship practices of teachers were significantly influenced by the ecoliteracy skills of grade six learners. It is articulated in this study that ecoliteracy skills of grade six learners should be raised at a very high level. It was concluded that the high level of environmental stewardship practices of teachers would also increase the ecoliteracy skills of grade six learners.
