This study examined the knowledge, health practices, challenges, and coping mechanisms of families living with a member diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) in Upi, Maguindanao. A descriptive qualitative research design was employed, and data were gathered through interviews with wives of PTB patients. Findings indicated that participants possessed a moderate level of knowledge about tuberculosis and generally practiced appropriate preventive measures, including proper hygiene and adherence to prescribed treatment. Despite these, families experienced considerable financial, physical, emotional, and psychological burdens, largely due to the reduced capacity of affected members to work. Participants relied on various coping strategies, such as strong religious faith, support from family and community, and engagement in livelihood and household activities. The study concludes that, despite significant challenges, families demonstrate resilience through adaptive coping mechanisms. It is recommended that health education initiatives and community-based support systems be strengthened to enhance family well-being and improve treatment outcomes.
