Abstract

This study determined the level of preparedness of soon-to-be-released Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) for reintegration into society and formulated a framework to strengthen their readiness for successful social reintegration at Naic Municipal Jail. A descriptive research design employing quantitative approaches was utilized. Data were gathered from 25 soon-to-be-released PDLs and 25 Jail Officers through researcher-developed questionnaire. The data were analyzed using a paired-samples t-test, regression analysis, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) to examine differences in preparedness, expectations, and the influence of selected variables. Findings showed that most PDL respondents were high school-level or high school graduates, had been incarcerated for one year and one day to two years, and were facing drug-related cases. No significant difference was found between the PDLs’ self-assessed preparedness and the Jail Officers’ assessment of their demonstrated or practiced preparedness. Likewise, no significant difference was found between the expectations of PDLs and Jail Officers, and the moderating variables did not significantly influence the PDLs’ expectations. Overall, the preparedness of soon-to-be-released PDLs was assessed at a high extent, although the findings indicated a continuing need for a structured social reintegration framework. Accordingly, the study proposes a fifteen-day Strategic Framework for Social Reintegration that integrates behavioral, psychological, intellectual, vocational, and spiritual preparation. Naic Municipal Jail should sustain and strengthen its Therapeutic Community Modality Program while implementing the proposed framework, with particular emphasis on improving intellectual development readiness and tailoring vocational and behavioral preparation for PDLs involved in drug-related cases.
