Implementation and Effectiveness of the Career Guidanceprogram of a Private Institution

Career Guidance Programs are essential school-based interventions designed to support learners in making informed academic and career decisions. This study assessed the extent and effectiveness of the implementation of the Career Guidance Program of Christ the King College of Calbayog City, Inc., for the school year 2025-2026. A descriptive- causal comparative research design was employed using an adapted and validated survey questionnaire administered to 186 high school learners and eight (8) program implementers. The findings revealed that the respondents were predominantly adolescents, slightly female-dominated, and mostly from Grade 11. The program was consistently implemented across all dimensions, with stronger emphasis on program objectives and organization, while program promotion obtained relatively lower ratings. The program was also found to be effective, particularly in enhancing self-awareness and decision-making, although motivation-related aspects were comparatively lower. There were no significant differences in both the extent of implementation and level of effectiveness when grouped according to learners’ profiles, indicating consistent program delivery. However, a significant positive relationship was established between implementation and effectiveness. In terms of challenges, learners reported issues related to participation and feedback, particularly in awareness, engagement, and venue-related arrangements affecting program delivery, while implementers experienced constraints in training, resources, coordination, monitoring, and workload. Furthermore, the Career Guidance Program was consistently implemented and effective, but improvements in promotion, engagement, and support systems were necessary. A strategic action plan was proposed to strengthen program delivery and enhance its overall effectiveness.
