Abstract

This study examined the relationship between e-administration practices and organisational resilience in telecommunication firms in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The study was motivated by the increasing need for organisations, particularly in disruption-prone environments, to strengthen their capacity to withstand, adapt to, and recover from operational challenges. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. Data were collected from 84 employees of selected telecommunication firms operating in Bayelsa State using a structured questionnaire. The instrument was validated, and its reliability was established using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product Moment Correlation with the aid of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The hypotheses were tested at a 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that electronic record management has a positive and significant relationship with organisational resilience (r = 0.584, p < 0.01). Similarly, electronic communication systems showed a strong and significant relationship with organisational resilience (r = 0.690, p < 0.01), while automated administrative workflow systems also demonstrated a positive and significant relationship with organisational resilience (r = 0.441, p < 0.01). The study concluded that e-administration practices are strategic organisational capabilities that significantly contribute to organisational resilience in telecommunication firms in Bayelsa State. It was recommended that telecommunication firms should strengthen their digital administrative systems and invest in employee capacity building to improve resilience. The study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence on the link between e-administration and organisational resilience in a developing-economy context.
