https://journals.e-palli.com/home/index.php/jir/article/view/2421

Undernutrition is a significant public health concern, impacting over 900 million people globally. It holds responsibility for the highest mortality rate among children and leaves enduring physiological effects. The purpose of this review is to determine the prevalence of undernourishment, investigate the consequences of undernutrition on health outcomes, particularly its influence on child development, and emphasize potential interventions and suggest policy recommendations to tackle the underlying causes and alleviate the effects of undernutrition in Namibia. Databases such as PubMed, OnePlus, etc., and reports from organizations were utilized to identify existing research studies (both qualitative and quantitative) and reports from organizations were used to identify relevant articles. In 2012, 28% of Namibians were underweight, 11% as overweight, and 7% as obese. The prevalence of undernutrition (as a percentage of the population) was reported at 17.1% in 2020 and 2021. Stunting has decreased from 29% to 23.7%. 12,711 children are said to have died in Namibia in the last five years. 43.1% of the adult population was stunted as a child. Data in the 2022 prevalence report shows that 7.1% of children under five years of age are affected, which is higher than the average for the African region (6.0%). Undernutrition poses potential consequences in children such as impaired physical and cognitive development, increased susceptibility to diseases, and overall reduced quality of life. There is a lack of recent online data on undernutrition prevalence in Namibia, which poses a challenge to grasp the current situation fully. Historical records and existing literature strongly suggest that undernutrition remains a pressing issue in the country.
Evelina N Johannes

https://journals.e-palli.com/home/index.php/jir/article/view/2408

This review investigates the ramifications of conflict on chemotherapy drug accessibility for cancer patients in Sudan. For this review article, the data was collected from file records Port Sudan Oncology Center, Port Sudan, Sudan. Through a comprehensive analysis of drug supply frequencies during distinct conflict periods, the study reveals fluctuating availability and challenges in sustaining the supply chain. Grouping chemotherapy drugs according to their availability patterns elucidates the varying degrees of accessibility during conflict, ranging from consistent supplies to complete absence. The impact of these shortages on cancer patients is profound, resulting in compromised treatment outcomes, increased morbidity and mortality rates, and substantial socioeconomic burdens. Real-life patient accounts underscore the emotional, physical, and financial toll imposed by interrupted access to vital medications. Despite efforts by healthcare institutions, NGOs, and governmental bodies, persistent challenges hinder effective mitigation strategies during conflict, including logistical constraints, inadequate funding, and political instability. The socioeconomic and psychological implications of drug shortages are significant, pushing patients deeper into poverty and exacerbating psychological distress. Addressing these challenges necessitates sustained efforts to fortify drug supply chains, enhance infrastructure, and foster multi-stakeholder cooperation. The study emphasises the critical need for sustained interventions to ensure continuous access to chemotherapy drugs in Sudan and conflict zones globally. Immediate actions are imperative to alleviate the burdens faced by cancer patients and fortify healthcare systems to withstand the challenges of conflict-induced drug scarcity.
Mona Mahmoud AbasherHyffa Osman Mohamed AhmedEman Eltag Abdelateef

https://journals.e-palli.com/home/index.php/jir/article/view/2355

Anemia is one of the leading causes of death globally, not only among children and women; however, there have been records of deaths among men too. Anemia disproportionately affects young children and expecting mothers with increased morbidity and mortality. Who estimates that anemia affects 30% of women aged 15 to 49, 37% of pregnant women, and 40% of children aged 6 to 59 months globally. The goal of lowering anemia among women of reproductive age has not been met, and 25.2% of women between the ages of 15 and 49 are now affected in Namibia. Namibia with a current prevalence rate of 46.1% of children under 5 years, is a severe global public health issue. According to the morphological classification of anemia, normocytic normochromic anemia (86.3%) was the most common kind in Namibia, with a moderate frequency of iron deficiency anemia whereas the highest prevalence of vitamin b12 deficient anemia was found in some regions. Anemia indicates both poor nutrition and poor health and is often categorized based on its cause. Iron deficiency, pregnancy, antiretroviral therapy side effects, and hereditary blood abnormalities increase the risk of anemia. Depending on the hemoglobin levels in the blood, anemia can be either short-term or long-term. For pregnant women and children under the age of 5, mild anemia is defined as a level of hemoglobin concentration between 10.0 and 10.9g/dl, moderate anemia is defined as a level between 7.0 and 9.9g/dl, and severe anemia is defined as a level below 7.0g/dl. Medical professionals follow different standards such as typical treatment recommendations, World Health Organization recommendations, and reference materials while dealing with individuals who have suspected anemia.
Eugenia N Nangwasha

https://journals.e-palli.com/home/index.php/jir/article/view/2398

The current research aimed to present an in-depth analysis of how Qatar Free Zone (QFZ), Qatar Smart Program (TASMU), Qatar National Broadband Network (Qnbn), and Msheireb Downtown Doha are Leveraging Cloud Services and digital transformation for sustainability under Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV2030). The researcher used a qualitative case study research approach to analyse the aim gathering data using semi-structured interviews from 21 sustainability experts, government officials, and IT professionals. The findings highlighted that QFZ and Qnbn projects of Qatar meet the principles of SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Results showed that Qnbn offers multiple benefits for the economic development of multiple sectors. All four cases align with two SDGs, including SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, to meet the requirements of the QNV2030 and sustainability for building Smart Qatar. Also, these projects like Msheireb Downtown Doha and QFZ in Qatar are founded on four key pillars, including social, human, economic and environmental developments meeting QNV2030 objectives. Cloud services also offer climate-related innovations facilitating environmental monitoring, resource optimisation, etc., in QFZ and Google Cloud partnership aligned with SDG 13: Climate Action.
Ahmed Elidrisy

https://journals.e-palli.com/home/index.php/jir/article/view/2163

Interference and diffraction are phenomena of wave behavior discussed at senior high school level of the K-12 curriculum. Common misconceptions and low levels of understanding in this area of Physics often arise due to different factors. Due to these challenges, this study aimed to develop an engaging and educational game-based strategic intervention material called Light Wars. The content and quality of the supplementary material were evaluated by content experts in the field of Physics and students enrolled in grade 11 of the general academic strand in terms of goals and objectives, card design, components and organization, playability and playfulness, and usefulness. Based on the evaluation of the Light Wars after the utilization of the educational material, the content experts and students gave it an excellent rating and recognized it as an effective supplementary material in engaging learners, improving conceptual understanding, and concept retention. Furthermore, this study suggested that Light Wars could be utilized in other disciplines of Physical Science in grade 11 academic strands to further investigate the game’s efficacy. The efficiency of the game in terms of usage between the card component and the actual hybrid game setup was also advised to be determined through comparative research.
Neslyn Jane A TolentinoJohn Francis B BalaridoMartin C NayveNikko Lorenz P Lawsin
