https://journals.e-palli.com/home/index.php/ajpehs/article/view/2543

Elite athletes’ psychological well-being is said to play a significant role in their competitive nervousness, taking into account factors like performance anxiety, fear of failing, and pre-game anxiety. Even while research on anxiety in sports has advanced significantly, there hasn’t been much attention paid to female elite football players in Manipur and Tripura. The purpose of the study is to study explore the complex relationship between anxiety and football performance of elite female players of Manipur and Tripura. Forty-two female athletes, aged 18-25, representing national tournaments for their respective states (21 from Manipur and 21 from Tripura), were purposively selected for the study. The Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2) was employed to measure three dimensions of anxiety: somatic anxiety, cognitive anxiety, and self-confidence. Descriptive statistics and the Mann-Whitney U test were utilized for data analysis. Results revealed variations in anxiety levels between the two groups. Tripura Sports School exhibited higher somatic anxiety, while YWC Manipur displayed higher cognitive anxiety and self-confidence. The study suggests that differences in training facilities, competitive exposure, and regional disparities may contribute to the observed variations in anxiety levels. The findings underscore the importance of a holistic approach to athlete development, integrating mental health support with physical training. Coaches, sports organizations, and policymakers should consider these insights when designing programs and implementing mental health initiatives for female elite soccer players in diverse regional contexts.
Sharina NaoremSm FarooqueSudip Das

https://journals.e-palli.com/home/index.php/ajpehs/article/view/2412

The implementation of the Senior High School program has paved the way for the inclusion of technical and vocational education as one of the four (4) tracks offered from Grade 11 to Grade 12; specifically, the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track has gained traction as the shift from content-based to outcome-based learning has becomes a tagline in most, if not all, schools in the country. Home Economics is one of the TVL strands and Beauty Nail Care Services are part of its subject which students face a decrease in performance. This led the researcher to develop Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) in which this descriptive research was conducted to determine the extent to which good characteristics of a learning material was met as assessed by seven (7) experts; and its effectiveness in increasing the academic performance of thirty (30) purposively chosen HE students. Findings revealed that SIM “very highly” met the characteristics of a good learning material (x ̅=4.551, sd=0.447); the academic performance of those who utilized the SIM was “Very Satisfactory” (x ̅=85, sd=0.8.02); there was a significant difference in the academic performance of those who utilized the SIM and those who were not (t=-2.030, p=0.047); and SIM was “Effective” (x ̅=2.772, sd=0.439) in terms of Content, Clarity, Comprehensibility, and Usefulness. All supports and initiatives for utilizing this material was highly recommended. Results yield positive implications towards students’ skills in the said field, necessary for work immersion and TESDA assessment; and the HE curriculum being implemented in all senior high schools in the country.
Jane Delano R Estipona

https://journals.e-palli.com/home/index.php/ajpehs/article/view/2415

There was a projected growth of up to 80% between 1990 and 2025 in an older adult of Nigeria above 60 years of age. This projected growth assumes an increased workload for almost every healthcare provider to ensure optimal geriatric care. This study aimed to assess preventive geriatrics as a way of geriatric health care. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed among elderly people (60 years and above) residing in the Akure South Local Government Area for at least a year. The survey included several sections to assess multiple aspects such as sociodemographic information, assessment of primary preventive geriatrics, secondary preventive geriatrics as well as tertiary preventive geriatrics as methods of receiving geriatric health care. The response rate was around 96% of the respondents. The mean (± standard deviation) age of the cohort was 72.3 (±8.4) years. The primary (χ² =39.498, df = 12 p-value=0.000), secondary (χ² =58.5003, df = 12, p-value=0.000), and tertiary (χ² =35.8994, df = 12, p-value=0.000) preventive geriatrics were shown to be a way of geriatric health care. Geriatric health care should focus on prevention, medication use, personalized health management, fall prevention, and vaccination uptake. The study thus recommends that institutions in geriatric care provide educational programs, gratuitous medical evaluations, and social support strategies that can reduce the burden of preventive geriatric care for Nigerian elderly.
Sefunmi Titilope Ola-Akinlalu

https://journals.e-palli.com/home/index.php/ajpehs/article/view/2502

Leadership has been known as one of the most influential factors in enhancing job performance. Leaders play a crucial role in this endeavor by facilitating opportunities for skill enhancement through training initiatives and other skill-improving activities. This study implements a qualitative approach, with deep interviews as the data collection method. The study was performed in several hospitals in Indonesia that apply transformational leadership styles to their management atmospheres. The research findings underscore the pivotal role and the potential of transformational leadership style as a driving factor for improved performance. Building upon these findings, it is recommended that leaders intensify efforts to enhance the leadership style and bolster further training programs to ensure a broader participation base. Additionally, transformational leadership can potentially provide specialized resources tailored to the nurses’ specific functional responsibilities. This may include the provision of learning modules covering various areas surgical medical-surgical, communication, and documentation. By equipping these nurses with the requisite knowledge and skills, leaders empower them to fulfill their duties effectively, thereby fostering a culture of service excellence within the institution.
Ningsih Desy Kartika
